Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Publication Language
Acta Micropalaeontologica Sinica publishes high-quality scholarly research in English. All manuscripts must be written in clear, precise academic English. Authors are responsible for ensuring linguistic accuracy prior to submission. Manuscripts that do not meet language standards may be returned for revision before peer review.

Criteria for Authorship
Authorship should reflect substantial academic contribution. All listed authors must meet the following criteria:
1. Significant contribution to the conception or design of the study, or acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
2. Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
3. Approval of the final version before submission.
4. Agreement to be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the work.
Individuals who do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged appropriately but not listed as authors.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author is responsible for:
1. Ensuring that all authors meet authorship criteria.
2. Confirming that all co-authors approve the final manuscript.
3. Managing communication with the editorial office.
4. Ensuring compliance with ethical standards.
5. Providing accurate contact information.
Only one corresponding author should normally be designated.

Author Order
The sequence of authors must be agreed upon by all contributors prior to submission. The journal does not intervene in authorship disputes. Any change in authorship after submission must be approved in writing by all authors and justified to the editorial office.

Author Contributions Statement
A clear statement outlining each author’s contribution must be included in the manuscript. Contributions may include:
1. Conceptualization
2. Methodology
3. Investigation
4. Data Analysis
5. Writing – Original Draft
6. Writing – Review & Editing
7. Supervision
8. Funding Acquisition
This promotes transparency and accountability.

Originality and Ethical Standards
Authors must ensure that:
1. The manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
2. All sources are properly cited.
3. No plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of data has occurred.
4. Necessary ethical approvals have been obtained for research involving human participants or animals.
The journal adheres to recognized international standards of publication ethics.

Conflict of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work. If no conflicts exist, the manuscript should state:
“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

Funding Disclosure
All sources of funding must be clearly identified, including grant numbers where applicable.

Data Availability
Authors are encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement specifying where supporting data can be accessed or explaining any restrictions.

Acknowledgments
Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria but provided support, technical assistance, or language editing should be acknowledged in a separate section.

Changes to Authorship
Requests for addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission must include:
1. A written explanation from the corresponding author.
2. Written consent from all listed authors, including any added or removed individuals.
The editorial office reserves the right to evaluate such requests.

Publication Integrity
All submissions may be screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts found to violate ethical standards may be rejected or retracted.

Copyright Ownership
Copyright of all published articles is reserved by ACTA MICROPALAEONTOLOGICA SINICA.
Upon acceptance of a manuscript, authors transfer copyright to the Journal. The Journal retains the exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and make the work available in all forms and media, including print and electronic formats.

Open Access License
All published articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
Under this license, readers may:
• Share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format)
• Adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material)

Under the following conditions:
• Attribution – Proper credit must be given to the author(s) and the Journal, with a link to the license.
• Non-Commercial – The material may not be used for commercial purposes.
Commercial use requires prior written permission from the Journal.

Author Rights
Authors retain the right to:
• Use their article for academic and research purposes.
• Share the published version for non-commercial use.
• Include the article in theses, dissertations, or academic compilations.
